Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 release date and pricing

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 was unveiled at Samsung’s big July Unpacked event alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Watch 8 and Galaxy Watch 8 Classic. As confirmed by Samsung at the event, the phone is now available for pre-order ahead of its release on 25 July 2025

Pricing remains consistent in the UK and the US at £1,049/$1,099 for the 256GB version and £1,149/$1,219 for the 512GB model – something consumers are sure to appreciate, given that the more premium Z Fold 7 has become even more expensive in the States.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 colours

Samsung’s flip-style foldables have always leaned into fun colours, and the Flip 7 is no different. The latest foldable is available in the rather vibrant Blue Shadow and Coral Red, along with an understated Jet Black option. There’s also an online-exclusive Mint finish if you buy directly from Samsung itself.

It’s a much bolder palette than the muted tones you’ll find on Samsung’s similarly priced S-series flagships, and allows it to compete with equally vibrant options like Motorola’s vibrant Razr 60 Ultra.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 design and screens

It’s clear from just a glance that the Galaxy Z Flip 7 is a big upgrade over the Galaxy Z Flip 6 that came before it. It all starts with that new cover screen; a 4.1-inch Flex Window with ultra-slim 1.25mm bezels that could give the Razr 60 Ultra’s 4-inch alternative a serious run for its money.

It’s the biggest cover screen on a Flip to date, and the AMOLED screen packs a faster 120Hz refresh rate with the same 2600nit peak brightness as the internal screen.

The extra size should allow users to do way more without unfolding the phone, especially with more widgets, new Google Gemini support, features like Now Bar and Now Brief and the ability to launch (almost) any app via Samsung Labs. It’s a huge jump, even if you’re rocking the 3.4-inch Z Flip 6.

Inside, the main screen has grown from 6.7 to 6.9 inches, while offering a slightly wider 21:9 aspect ratio to bring the screen experience closer to that of a regular bar phone. The Dynamic AMOLED X panel packs a FHD+ resolution, LTPO-enabled 120Hz refresh rate, Vision Booster tech and that aforementioned 2600nit peak brightness.

The crease is also much shallower this year, thanks to a redesigned hinge. It’s not completely invisible, of course, but it’s closer than any other Flip has been.

Elsewhere, the Z Flip 7 has slimmed down to just 6.5mm unfolded (down from 6.9mm), and packs improved IP58 protection. While that’s technically the same as the Flip 6, the waterproofing now extends deeper into the circuitry rather than sitting under the bezels.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 specs and software

Despite the selfie-focused nature of flip-style foldables, the core camera hardware of the Flip 7 remains unchanged from the Flip 6. Just like last year, you’re getting a 50MP primary lens, 12MP ultrawide and a 10MP internal selfie camera for video calls and the like.

Instead, the big upgrades come in the form of software and AI; you now get 10-bit HDR for richer, more detailed video – 4x more colour depth than the Flip 6 according to Samsung – along with beter low light video with the upgraded ProVisual Engine, while improved portrait lighting automatically adapts to your surroundings.

Hands-free selfies also get an upgrade with new Auto Zoom tech. FlexCam mode now supports the technology, which automatically tracks and frames you when your phone is propped up.

There’s also a handy new cover screen ring light that indicates when the cameras are active and what they’re doing – yellow for photos, red for video – plus a zoom slider for quick adjustments.

Unlike the Fold 7, the Flip 7 doesn’t get Qualcomm’s top-end Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy. Instead, it runs on Samsung’s own Exynos 2500 chipset. It’s likely not quite as punchy as a result, but it’s still paired with 12GB of RAM and a healthy 256- or 512GB of storage.

In fact, the chipset allows the Flip 7 to run Samsung DeX for the first time, allowing you to hook the foldable up to a bigger screen and use it like a mini desktop. That’s not bad for something that folds down into your pocket.

Software-wise, it runs One UI 8 on top of Android 16 out of the box, complete with AI features lie Now Bar, Now Brief, live Gemini view on the cover screen, auto-curated wallpapers that adapt to your photos and more. And, like other recent Samsung releases, the Flip 7 will get seven years of OS upgrades that’ll take it to Android 23.

It also looks like a positive change in the battery department, with a larger 4300mAh battery – the largest in a Flip to date – promising up to 31 hours of video playback. That’s a pretty bold claim, however, so we’ll be putting that to the test as we review the foldable over the coming days.

When it does run flat, you’ve got either 25W wired charging or 15W wireless charging to choose from.
